Usually, the counselling process has the following steps clearly demarcated in structured counselling process.

Counselling is a growing field in 2023.  One of the best investment option in 2023 is into the Counselling and Life Coaching business. The more the world becomes Technical, the more people become worried,stressful and become low frustration tolerance people.  Hence more and more people are approaching for counseling. Counseling is also changing in this era. The methods,Styles and steps ar changing. However the basic remains the basic which are given below:-

  • (1) Opening: The opening process is very crucial. Rapport building starts with this process. The Therapist tries to build rapport through (1) Intellectual means (2) Emotional means (3) Kinaesthetic means wherever required. Conscious  Rapport with the client is created and the therapist gathers crucial information from the client which will help him in the process of counselling.

(3)Understanding: In this level, the therapist has moved on to the greater understanding of the client as a total personality and also understands the parts of personality which has to be worked. The therapist discusses the parts with the client. He uses the positive side of the client to dig more deeper into the parts which needs change. In this step, the therapist transforms his understanding to the client and establishes complete control over the counselling process.

(5) Exploring Problems: The therapist moves towards implementing the intervention. He explores problems and suggests suitable Interventions. Based on the therapy he chooses, he proceeds with counselling steps. The past,Present and Future aspects completely taken into account.

(2)Exploring Client Understanding: During the exploration process, the therapist tries to understand the client through is Past, Present and Future aspirations. Therapist evaluates, Analyses the events and try to move to the core aspects from the surface level information. The Therapist discusses the Goals for the Counseling and also the sessions. A Contract is made with the client with the Goals specified.

(4) Intervention: The intervention process is about choosing the appropriate counseling techniques that will help the client to set right the Parts of Personality which creates imbalance in the total personality. The Therapist choses either (1) Directive Counselling (2) Non-Directive counselling (3) or Eclectic Counselling. The therapist also chooses the best suitable therapy like CBT or Motivational Interviewing or REBT or NLP whatever the case may be with reference to the Goals set up.

(6)Empower to Create Own Solutions : Here the Therapist moves towards empowering the client.The counseling will be nearing the end and the therapist will be discussing  And discusses re-lapse prevention.
