Confidential online access

Attend from a private and convenient location

Online sessions may suit adults, students and working professionals who prefer remote support. Use a private room, reliable connection and a device with audio and video.

Online counselling is not an emergency service and may not suit immediate safety concerns or situations requiring direct medical assessment.

When counselling may be helpful

Confidential counselling for individuals and couples affected by infidelity, emotional or online affairs, betrayal trauma, guilt, anger, trust damage and difficult relationship decisions.

Discovery and betrayal trauma

Shock, repeated thoughts, anger, crying, sleep difficulty, fear and loss of emotional safety after learning about an affair.

Emotional, physical or online affairs

Hidden emotional closeness, sexual betrayal, secret messaging, dating apps, video calls or other concealed intimacy outside the relationship.

Guilt, shame and accountability

The involved partner may need help facing choices, understanding consequences and taking responsibility without denial or blame shifting.

Repeated checking and conflict

Phone checking, interrogation, reassurance seeking, accusations and recurring arguments may keep both partners emotionally overwhelmed.

Trust rebuilding

Couples who choose repair may need clear boundaries, transparency, accountability, consistent behaviour and realistic expectations.

Stay-or-separate decisions

One or both partners may need structured support to consider rebuilding, time apart, separation, parenting and future plans.

How counselling may help

Support is personalised after understanding the concern, its duration, impact, safety needs and individual goals.

Emotional stabilisation

Reduce immediate emotional flooding and create a safer way to discuss distress before addressing deeper relationship questions.

Clarifying facts and impact

Separate confirmed information, assumptions and fears while recognising the emotional and practical consequences of the affair.

Responsibility without humiliation

Support honest accountability and repair while avoiding abuse, retaliation or forced disclosure that creates additional harm.

Boundaries and transparency

Discuss contact boundaries, digital behaviour, communication agreements and realistic steps for rebuilding safety.

Trust and relationship repair

Develop consistent actions, repair conversations and gradual reconnection when both partners freely choose to rebuild.

Decision and family support

Clarify options involving reconciliation, separation, children, family communication and appropriate legal or specialist referral.

Helpful guide

A Practical Guide to Depression Counselling

Depression can affect mood, interest, sleep, appetite, concentration, motivation, self-worth and daily functioning. It is more than a difficult day, yet every experience is different. Understanding the pattern, severity, duration, safety concerns and personal circumstances helps a professional recommend suitable support rather than assuming that one method will fit everyone.

Understanding when support may be useful

People may seek counselling when low mood, emptiness, irritability, hopelessness or reduced interest continues and begins to interfere with work, study, relationships, self-care or responsibilities. Physical tiredness, unexplained aches, withdrawal, changes in sleep and difficulty making decisions can also accompany emotional distress. Counselling explores these experiences without reducing the person to a label.

A careful first conversation considers recent events, losses, relationship pressures, health conditions, medicines, substance use, previous episodes, protective factors and available support. Screening can guide discussion, but a questionnaire alone cannot provide a complete diagnosis. When symptoms are severe, persistent or medically complicated, coordination with a psychiatrist, physician or another qualified professional may be recommended.

How counselling can support recovery

Counselling may help a person recognise unhelpful thought patterns, rebuild manageable routines, improve emotional expression and reconnect with meaningful activities. Depending on assessment and preference, the professional may use CBT-informed work, behavioural activation, problem-solving, mindfulness, acceptance-based methods, interpersonal exploration or other appropriate approaches. Goals are agreed collaboratively and reviewed as circumstances change.

Progress is not always a straight line. Early goals may include eating regularly, restoring sleep habits, completing small tasks, reducing isolation or asking for support. Later work may address confidence, grief, boundaries, relationships, relapse awareness and longer-term values. The pace should remain realistic and should not create shame when energy or motivation fluctuates.

Preparing for a confidential online session

Online support can reduce travel and make continuity easier for people living away from Chennai, working irregular hours or managing family responsibilities. Suitability still matters. A stable connection, private room, charged device and disturbance-free period help the conversation remain confidential and focused. Headphones may improve privacy when appropriate.

Before the appointment, confirm the platform, time zone, professional, fee and what to do if the connection fails. Join from a safe stationary location—not while driving or operating equipment. The professional may ask for the client’s current location and an emergency contact when clinically appropriate, because online care must still include practical safety planning.

Online work can include assessment, discussion, guided exercises and between-session practice, but it is not suitable for every person or situation. If privacy cannot be protected, risk is immediate or symptoms require physical or medical assessment, local in-person care may be recommended. A clear referral is part of responsible support, not a rejection of the client.

Before choosing a service, consider the main difficulty, its duration, its effect on everyday functioning and any previous professional support. Relationship-focused professional support

Approaches Used in Couple Counselling

Methods are selected after understanding both partners’ concerns, goals, willingness, relationship context and safety. Couple counselling is not used to force reconciliation, assign blame or excuse harmful behaviour.

Structured assessment

Understanding each partner’s concerns, goals, relationship pattern, strengths and safety needs.

Communication skills

Practising listening, validation, clear requests and conversations that reduce escalation.

Conflict-cycle work

Recognising repeated pursue, withdraw, criticise, defend or shutdown patterns.

CBT-informed support

Examining interpretations, expectations and behaviours that intensify relationship distress.

Emotion-focused work

Identifying vulnerable emotions and attachment needs beneath repeated conflict when appropriate.

Transactional Analysis

Exploring communication roles, transactions and recurring interpersonal patterns.

Solution-focused planning

Building small, observable changes around agreed relationship goals.

Family-systems perspective

Considering family-of-origin, parenting, boundaries and wider relationship influences.

Trust and repair

Developing accountability, transparency and realistic repair steps when both partners choose to continue.

Referral and safety planning

Prioritising individual safety assessment and suitable referral when violence, coercion or serious risk is present.

Important: Joint sessions may be unsuitable where there is active violence, coercive control, intimidation or fear. Individual safety assessment, specialist domestic-violence support, legal guidance, medical care or emergency services may be required.
